Where Am I?
Vehicle safety solutions specialist, Vision Techniques, has launched VT ‘Live’, a robust, vehicle-based mobile DVR (Digital Video Recorder) that allows operators to immediately view any incident straight from the cab. It can also send an alert to colleagues via email, SMS or MMS.
Andrew Kelly business development manager at Vision Techniques says, “Many of our customers operate traditional multi-camera HDR (Hard Disk Recording) systems but find the downloading and viewing of any incidents time-consuming, laborious and frankly inefficient.
“We designed VT ‘Live’ mobile DVR so that operators no longer have to wait for vehicles to return to the depot in order to establish exactly what happened and when.”
As well as automatic recording for crew protection, it also includes Video Gateway with remote connectivity, GPS tracking and 2-way push-to-talk audio, making VT ‘Live’ a highly flexible live-recording system.
This built-in tracking and 2-way comms, means VT Live can be used as a back up to mobile phones or 2-way radios. Vision Techniques are currently working on further enhancements to the system which will allow for the use of one SIM card in each vehicle to encompass VT Live, voice calls and additional systems integration, minimizing cab-clutter and potential ‘information overload’ to drivers whilst reducing the ongoing monthly cost of the vehicle.
Featuring Vision Techniques’ own embedded operation system for maximum reliability, VT ‘Live’ will also integrate with other high-end technologies such as Banksman Radar and ZoneSafe II providing the end user with a fully comprehensive audit trail.
