VT Live™ - Mobile Digital Video Recorder

Will the overall benefits outweigh the incurred costs?

We would like to think so; as a company we are committed to providing quality products and a comprehensive after-sales service that provides quantifiable cost savings, therefore, our answer to this would undoubtedly be yes.

However, our knowledge of the services you provide and the manner in which you operate is limited, therefore it is necessary that we discuss in detail your current operations and the relevant statistics that have led to avoidable costs being incurred, so that we can identify the real savings that VT Live™ can generate.

For example, if you receive a complaint from a member of the public, would the cost of the ensuing Supervisors visit (including the cost of time to travel, time to interview witnesses, cost of transport and fuel, impact on carbon footprint, return journey to provide evidence etc...) plus administrative time be calculated as additional to the actual cost of the Supervisor, or be included as part of it? What other duties would be sacrificed?

Additionally, if you were able to successfully prove that your vehicles were not responsible for a number of false claims against damage to third-party vehicles or property, how (and when) would this reflect in your Insurance premiums?

We talk to many Insurance companies too, because they are also interested in these latest recording technologies, not only for the benefit of saving costs but also to increase efficiencies.

Regular dialogue with our wide and varied customer base means that we have a full understanding as to why customers choose to invest in the installation of multi-camera recording systems. Cost mitigation is the most common factor reported by customers in their decision process to invest in this equipment.

And yes, the protection of personnel is also paramount and should not be overlooked, as we notice growing trends, especially in the Fire Industry, where equipment such as this is being specified more and more as a result of attacks on fire crews.

In 2009, there were 160 recorded attacks on refuse crews in the UK. As you will read from the link above, Fire authorities are using the systems for evidence to protect their staff, and at the same time, prosecute criminals. The use of multi-camera recording systems has proved to be a positive investment for the fire service by reducing the levels of attacks and incidents in general with a commensurate reduction in service costs.

From a community cohesion point of view, we receive feedback that Police Forces are supportive of vehicles such as refuse collection & recycling vehicles being fitted with recording systems – another set of eyes to help the Police combat crime. We have received interesting feedback from operators where incidents recorded have helped the Police to prosecute – a drive-by shooting was captured on camera in one case!
