Vehicle safety experts Vision Techniques will be demonstrating their new ‘ultrasonic beating’ video analytics camera system that can detect approaching cyclists and visibly and audibly warn the driver at this years’ Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC.
The new camera system, called ‘TurnAware’ is installed to cover a vehicles’ blind spot and uses video analytics that interpret light, movement and speed so it can detect approaching hazards and vulnerable road users.
Significantly the new system is able to recognise when a hazard is moving towards the vehicle and ignore objects moving away – meaning street furniture won’t produce false alarms.
Technical manager Nigel Armstrong commented “The beauty of the system is that it’s visual – it’ll prevent false alarming and give the driver warning and the ability to see any approaching danger in a vehicles blind spot.”
Vision Techniques is also demonstrating their best-selling audible and visual warning system ‘TurnAlarm’ and their illuminated side and rear safety ‘TurnSign’ at the event, safety products that meet CLOCS and FORS safety requirements.
Vision Techniques will also be announcing new products specifically for road transport which will be demonstrated at this years’ CV Show in the coming weeks.
