VT TurnAlarm – Improve cyclist safety with better awareness

Posted on 4th Sep, 2014 by Jonathan Peach

Let’s face it; pedestrians aren’t always aware of what’s going on around them. We’ve all been there, daydreaming about the weekend ahead listening to music, making plans in our head for dinner, or chatting on our mobile phones. Sometimes, indicating or using an audible alarm isn’t quite enough to alert passers by. That’s why we invented the VT TurnAlarm here at Vision Techniques, providing you with a cost effective solution to prevent accidents whilst reversing.

Helping large vehicles to reverse safely

The VT TurnAlarm is cleverly designed to clearly warn pedestrians that you are reversing – without creating the excessive noise that’s unwelcomed by the neighbourhood at early hours of the morning or after dark. Instead, the alerting system works via the cost effective VT TurnAlarm.

A simple fit

It can be fit in to a number of large vehicles, with a single rear bolt fixing, wired directly to the reversing light. Just some of the modes of transport it’s suitable for are ones used for municipal and waste, or quarrying and mining, agricultural, or forklift, and even buses, coaches and emergency services vehicles.

So, how does it work?

VT TurnAlarm uses clever technology that combines an audible alarm with flashing LED lights. So, instead of creating extra noise pollution, you’ll be giving off a visual warning, with a quieter, yet effective audible alert as your vehicle reverses. It’s automatically engaged as soon as you put your vehicle into reverse – meaning once it’s installed, there’s nothing more for you to initiate or think about, other than driving and reversing with care.

Tailor to your circumstances

What’s more, there are a variety of different modes to choose from. As the driver, you can opt to switch off the audible alarm completely – or half it – by intensifying the LED warning lights instead. By doing this, you’ll be able to give an effective warning of your intentions to reverse to passers by, whilst keeping disruption to the neighbour to a minimum. It’s the flexibility and choice in the products design that makes it so popular amongst our customers. Drivers are able to judge the circumstances for themselves and make a decision on whether an audible alarm, or visual alarm is best suited to their current situation. And if you do choose to have an alarm, you’re also able to customise its sound – choosing from bleeps to speech or a combination of both!

The Vision Techniques stamp of approval

All the models are durable and hard wearing, and suitable for all weather conditions. They also come complete with an anti-vibration gasket, as well as being environmentally friendly.

As with all our products, the VT TurnAlarm has been tested for safety. It’s both CE and EMC approved and tested at MIRA for all on and off highway applications.
