Steve Hurd joins the sales team at Vision Techniques in the role of National Sales Manager. Here is Steve’s history in the motor transport industry.
“Started in the waste industry in 1994 and was part of the senior management team that took Go Plant on in 1995. As Business Development Director was instrumental in growing the business into the market leader for the supply of operated and non-operated municipal vehicles .Worked very closely with Local Authorities and Private Waste companies in structuring long term contracts for various municipal vehicles that were mutually beneficial for both parties setting up SLAs and KPIs which allowed for a measurement on performance for the contracts. Worked with VT in the early days to develop the original rear view camera systems that then became the industry standard.
Following the sale of Go Plant in 2007, it had grown from a 5 million pound a year business into a 32 million pound a year business. I took a few years out of the industry to run my own construction business then In 2010 along with Patrick Tierney the old Go Plant MD and the original GP investors we acquired the old WCR Municipal Hire business following its management’s decision to place it into administration and took up the role of Commercial Director. During my time there I was again responsible for the management of existing contracts and setting up a new supply chain to service the business.
Joining VT I have the brief to grow the business and structure it to be able to take advantage of the opportunities we have. With over 20 years’ experience within the waste and service industry I have gained a lot of experience which I hope I can pass on where necessary to the current VT business, which in its self is a very strong brand. In my previous roles I have been with businesses that have needed a turnaround plan to be able to grow, VT already has strong foundations and a strong platform with exciting new products and opportunities which makes for an exciting future.”
The team at Vision Techniques would all like to welcome Steve to the company and look forward to seeing what he can bring to the table.
