Vision Techniques interviewed about Motor Transport Award

Vision Techniques were interviewed by Hayley Pink from Commercial Motor magazine about their Motor Transport Award winning system BrakeSafe.

Vision Technique won the Innovation Award at the Motor Transport awards evening in July this year for their system BrakeSafe. Hayley Pink met up with the team at Broughton Hall Estate to question them about how they felt after the win and to get more information about how the system worked.

BrakeSafe is the new system that prevents rollaways and runaways from happening by automatically applying the brakes if the driver forgets to use the handbrake before leaving the vehicle. The system works by using multiple sensors that have to be activated in a certain scenario for the BrakeSafe system to apply the brakes. It has been programmed to activate when needed but not to interfere with the driver if all aspects of the scenario have not been met.

British Gypsum are the first major buyer of the system. Kirk Ennis shared his thoughts of the system with Hayley.

The system has recently been given reg 10 and 13 from the VCA, meaning the system is now in the manufacturing process. Vision Techniques have already taken many pre orders from big companies such as British Gypsum.

Craven Council worked closely with Vision Techniques during the testing period. Here is what Steve Parkinson from Craven Council had to say about working with Vision Techniques.

BrakeSafe is one of the systems that is demonstrated at the VT Safety Days held by Vision Techniques. The events give attendees the chance to get a hands on experience and ask any questions they may have about the system. To date they have held four safety days with the most recent one being held at Bruntingthorpe Proving Grounds. The company will release details about their 2017 Safety Roadshow in the future.
