You may remember the Waste Management and Action event that we covered on the blog just a few weeks ago. We’re pleased to say it was a real success, and helped a number of individuals and organisations understand Optimised Waste Logistics.
The event, hosted by the team here at Vision Techniques, was held on Tuesday 25th November at the Westerwood Hotel in Cumberland, Scotland. It was attended by many of the larger Scottish councils including Aberdeen, West Lothian, North Lanarkshire and Dundee city councils and was full of top exhibitors, including CMS, Dennis Eagle, Geesinknorba, MOBA and HEIL to name a few.
The show was chaired by Linda Ovens from the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) and had speakers including Michael McDonnell from Road Safety Scotland and Road Transport Legislation by Angela Eardle.
Seminar topics covered by other experts included operation efficiency, vehicle management, cyclist safety and route optimisation – which between them, looked at ways we can reduce the number of risks and accidents cause by the waste management and recycling industry.
Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed best practice masterclasses, industry speed dating, product demonstrations as well as the supplier and vehicle manufacturer exhibition that we had organised. The speed dating masterclasses, in particular, were a success, as exhibitors moved from table to table introducing themselves and their products. It’s something we definitely plan to repeat at future events.
Of course, one of the products we highlighted to attendees was OWL, our optimised waste logistics system, which helps to reduce costs, maximise resources and improve workplace safety through its fully integrated waste management solution. Its features include CANbus information, live 360 degree video recording, payload data and bin weigh and identification information. The product was developed alongside the team at Vehicle Weighting Solutions and CMS Supatrak – the latter of which were at the event too, sharing their expertise.
The day was very well attended and was very popular in Scotland, and we hope to host our next event in Ireland very soon, taking on board feedback and any new industry updates.
