Exhibitors attended from across the waste management industry including vehicle and technology suppliers and trade bodies, with many companies unveiling new products.
Vision Techniques were exhibiting its VT Live™ recording system as part of the OWL partnership.
CMS Supatrak, Vehicle Weighing Solutions and Vision Techniques have brought their products together to create OWL, the ultimate waste management solution.
Michael Hanson, Managing Director of Vision Techniques, said: “OWL received great interest from attendees who were extremely excited to see three companies working together to create an incredibly effective waste solution for vehicles.”
The event is thought to have eclipsed last year’s event, which saw visitor numbers in excess of 12,800 and was well attended throughout all three days.
There were many keynote speakers at the conference including physicist and TV presenter Brian Cox and Tony Blair’s former head of communications, Alastair Campbell.
Several MPs and Government officials also spoke at the event, including Gavin Shuker, the shadow waste minister, who outlined Labour’s policies on raising recycling targets.
Chris Murphy, deputy chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management, said: “I feel that this year’s exhibition has been a huge success.
“I felt particularly that the seminar programme was very impressive, and there were some clever and innovative speakers from the industry sharing their ideas and giving people the opportunity to ask them questions.”
The CIWM hopes the exhibition will return ‘bigger and better’ in 2013.
