Rear view mirrors are inadequate for large vehicles

Posted on 7th Mar, 2011 by Jonathan Peach

Reversing a vehicle can be dangerous with using a reversing camera system. Rear view mirrors are the standard equipment for this maneuver, but sometime this isn’t enough. Industrial vehicles, such as forklift trucks, have multiple mirrors to aid with reversing.

Large heavy vehicles can, and should, use technical aids like reversing cameras. Otherwise, reversing collisions are much more likely.

Rear view mirrors are inadequate for detecting objects close to the ground, which fall in the blind spot area. Large trucks have a much bigger blind spot, which can hide entire vehicles and large adults.

For vehicle safety it is essential for larger vehicles to install reversing cameras.
