This month we waved goodbye to VTL1, our trusted exhibition vehicle for the past eight years. The black and red demo van has driven across the length and breadth of the country, but today makes its final journey carrying the Vision Techniques name.
“VTL1 began its life with us at Paignton for the CIWM event. Back then, we stuck to just cameras and monitors so we had a wall of all our products. It was simple but it did the job.”
Show veteran Andy Kendal was often called upon to drive the show vehicle to multiple destinations across the country. He explained how the vehicle evolved alongside the company over the years.
“Over the years we added radars, recording systems and the overview system. Every year brought excitement with the latest products. We tried to tailor the vehicle to each show as best we could but it was hard work.”
The vehicle is being decommissioned because of Vision Techniques’s investment in a brand new exhibition vehicle, developed with the premise to adapt to every show, making demonstrating products much easier.
“The old vehicle wasn’t really big enough, the doors were too small and wasn’t inviting enough. We needed something more welcoming. VTL1 become tired.”
The show vehicle has been to major shows within multiple industries, including PAWRS, CIWM, SED, HILLHEAD, AVIEMORE, RWM at LONDON EXCEL and multiple Dennis Eagle and OWL roadshows.
“It’s sad to see it go but we’re all looking forward to using the new vehicle, it’ll definitely get more attention than the old one ever did.”
