With the number of cyclist deaths at an all time high in Britain, it’s clear that vehicle safety companies must step up to stop these accidents from occurring.
And that’s exactly what we’ve done at Vision Techniques by launching a brand new range of Cyclist Detection Safety Systems for lorries and HGVs.
Cycling has never been more popular and our roads have never been busier, so it comes as no surprise that the rate of accidents have also increased.
HGV vehicles make up only four per cent of the traffic, but have been involved in 53 per cent of cyclist deaths over the last three years.
Vision Techniques’ innovative TurnSafe Cyclist Detection System aims to takle this problem head-on.
Jonathan Peach, Manager at Vision Techniques explains: “Our unique and inexpensive VT TurnSafe range encourages both HGV drivers and cyclists to take responsibility for making the road a safer place. Drivers can react instantly and actively to avoid any potential collisions.”
The new range includes three products:
VT Side Alert™ (Sensors Only): Alerts drivers to a potential risk in areas frequented by cyclists – near or around the vehicle.
VT Side Alert™ (Audible): In addition to the driver warning, it emits a simple and audible warning for cyclists when they are positioned near or around the vehicle.
VT Side Alert™ (Audible and Visual): Includes a flashing warning for cyclists, as well as an audible one to both the driver and cyclists.
Although designed with HGVs in mind, all drivers who want to make the roads a safer place can use VT Turnsafe products.
