Over time, reversing cameras has gained much interest in techno-circles. They where originally introduced solely to help large heavy vehicles reverse – such as vans and lorries. This is still the obvious use since the back of these vehicles are usually unobservable.
However, they are much more mainstream nowadays and are used in a number of different applications – including family cars.
Reversing camera systems, also known as rear view cameras, come in various guises with at least one camera placed on the rear bumper.
Image quality varies but the monitor is usually between 3 and 7 inches. When more than one reversing camera is used, the monitor provides a split screen.
