Safety camera systems for commercial vehicles

Vehicle safety cameras have never been more valuable. While in-car cameras are beneficial to most industries, they’re a particularly important addition to commercial vehicles. As commercial vehicles like buses, coaches, taxis and trucks operate in built-up areas a city centres; the risk of accidents is usually higher.

TfL announces new standards for HGV drivers

With more than half of fatal accidents on motorways and busy roads involving HGVs, the need for improved safety standards and features has never been so high. Despite making up on 10% of the traffic on these types of roads, HGVs are still the biggest threat when it comes to accidents, injury and death on Britain’s roads. With recent statistics in mind, Transport for London (TfL) have begun planning a wave of new standards and initiatives. From the already-established Safer Lorries Scheme to the new ‘direct vision’ standard, designed to improve driver’s vision and cyclist safety; we look at TfL’s latest initiative.

The road to RWM – what’s happening this year?

Posted on 16th Aug, 2016 by Dominic Benabda

This years’ RWM promises to VT’s best yet, with interactive VT StopSafe demonstrations, 360° virtual reality experiences of BrakeSafe and TurnAware, working versions of our VT Record – recording live footage from our stand using our dedicated 3G network and a prize giveaway!

We’re proud to officially launch VT StopSafe to the municipal industry at this years’ RWM – our controlled stopping system that gives the crew the ability to safely bring a vehicle to a stop using a emergency button.

As StopSafe is all about giving the crew the ability to safely take control at the push of a button, this year on our stand we’re installing a very big red button that’s just waiting to be pushed. We want to see how many people are willing to press the button to see what a little innovation can really do!

This year you can also meet our own VT tame racing driver – the Twig. If you can beat him on our video game version of the Top Gear track you’ll be added to our winners wall, where the fastest lap will win a day at the REAL Top Gear track! You can also tweet your selfies with the Twig to #VisionTechniques for another chance to win!

We’ll also be offering people immersive 360° virtual reality video experiences of what it’s like to be a driver who has forgot to apply their handbrake and show how easily a rollaway can happen – and then they can experience what happens when they have VT BrakeSafe, our rollaway prevention system.

We’ve packed our stand with more interactive displays, product demonstrations and games than ever before so remember to visit us at 5ZZ131 and get involved!

Why cyclist safety is essential in summer

According to The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), more cycle accidents occur during the spring and summer, between May and September, than in autumn and winter. While road safety campaigns and improved driver awareness can help in the reduction of vehicle/cyclist collisions on our roads, it’s cyclist safety detection systems making the real difference. Designed to detect cyclists and prevent accidents, technology like VT TurnSafe is a must-have addition to your vehicle during the summer months.
